Sodium alpha-olefin sulfonate (AOS) is an anionic surfactant produced by the gas-phase film sulfonation of alpha-olefins with sulfur trioxide, followed by continuous neutralization. AOS exhibits excellent emulsifying, detergency, and lime-soap-dispersing power, good solubility and compatibility, fine and abundant foam, ready biodegradability, low toxicity, and low skin irritation. In phosphate-free detergents, it not only maintains strong washing performance but also shows outstanding compatibility with enzymes. Its powdered grade has excellent flowability. Consequently, AOS is widely used in phosphate-free laundry powders, liquid detergents, and other household cleaning products, as well as in textile printing and dyeing, oil-field chemicals, and industrial hard-surface cleaning.

Physicochemical Properties:

  1. Readily soluble in cold and hot water; high surface activity even in hard water (400 ppm CaCO₃).
  2. Rich, stable foam; excellent wetting, emulsifying and lime-soap dispersing power.
  3. Mild to skin and eyes; compatible with anionic, non-ionic and amphoteric surfactants.
  4. Stable over pH 3–12; non-yellowing under elevated temperature or UV exposure.

Packaging & Storage:

Powder: 25 kg net kraft-paper bag or woven bag with PE liner; 500 kg or 750 kg big bag on request.

Liquid: 200 kg plastic drum, 1 000 kg IBC or 22 MT flexitank.

Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight; keep containers tightly closed.

Shelf life: 24 months in original unopened packaging.
